A discussion on political intervention in media was organized in the Department Media Studies, Mahatma Gandhi Central University. The program was chaired by Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, Head of the Department of Media Studies. Dr. Saket Raman, Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra and Dr. Sunil Deepak Ghodke were the organizing committee.

In the presidential address, Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, Head of the Department, explained the growing political manner in the field of media at present. Dr. Jha said that the quality of journalism is constantly losing due to increasing political intervention in the field of media. Also, there is a continuous decrease in ‘security of employment’ in journalism. He said that all media students should work impartial to become better future journalists.
Professors discuss about the new trends, employment and fairness of media
In this discussion, Assistant Professor Dr. Saket Raman told about new trends and employment opportunities in media. He said that doing journalism in social interest and national interest is the first priority of young journalists. Assistant professor Dr. Sunil Deepak Ghodke said that the media is the fourth pillar of democracy and told the potential miscreants in the media area. He also highlighted the fairness of the media. Assistant Professor, Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra, referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s journalism, inspired the students to work fairly. He said that media students should consider their responsibility towards the nation and do fair journalism.
Students and Research scholars put their views
Several students and researchers were present, in which Rashmi, Tanya, Ashish, Roshan, Rajneesh, Vivekananda, Aruna, Rajiv, Ananya and others from BJMC and MJMC gave their statements. Research scholar Sauvik Acharya and Sunil Kumar gave their views to everyone. The vote of thanks was done by Manish (Research scholar) and Hariom Kumar (PHD Scholar) was the coordinator of the discussion.
