In a noteworthy event organized by the Department of Commerce at Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari, a National Seminar on “Sustainable Business Practices for Environmental and Social Well-being” took place on Thursday.
The seminar featured prominent personalities, including Prof. Piyush Ranjan Agrawal, former Vice-Chancellor of Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, and Prof. Ashish Vajpeyi, Director of the Institute of Management Sciences, BHU. Prof. Ashish Vajpeyi emphasized the importance of maintaining a continuous development within the natural boundaries to ensure environmental harmony. He stressed the need for businesses to transcend mere economic considerations and address their societal responsibilities.
Curb the misuse of technology – Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, the Vice-Chancellor of MGCU, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the special attention required for social responsibility, particularly in the business sector. Highlighting the hazards of improper chemical usage, Prof. Shrivastava urged the audience to curb the misuse of technology for the sake of sustainable development. He invoked the wisdom of the Vedic era, suggesting that energy conservation and environmental protection can be achieved through the careful maintenance of trees.
Prof. Piyush Ranjan Agrawal remarked on the existing social and economic disparities and commended the growth in the e-commerce sector while cautioning about persistent inequalities. He expressed satisfaction with the unexpected surplus in GST, juxtaposed with the increasing number of wealthy individuals in the country.The program was coordinated by Prof. Shirish Mishra, Dean of the School of Commerce, who welcomed the distinguished guests. The Department of Commerce’s Assistant Professor, Mr. Avanish Kumar, conducted the proceedings, with Dr. Shivendra Singh expressing gratitude.
