In a two-day National Conference on Global Citizenship organized by the Department of Educational Studies, Education Section at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, the session commenced with the lighting of the lamp ceremony and offerings to the deities, followed by an invocation to Goddess Saraswati.
The welcome address and keynote speech on the topic of paradigm shift were delivered by Prof. Ashish Shrivastav, Head of the Department. This was followed by the blessing and words of encouragement from the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjay Shrivastav, emphasizing the importance of global citizenship in today’s era.
Distinguished guest Prof. Pavan Sharma from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, highlighted the belief in the Indian knowledge tradition in fostering global brotherhood, emphasizing citizenship as a political concept earned through understanding the distinction between global brotherhood and citizenship, where emotions rather than language are crucial for global citizenship.
The main guest speaker, Prof. Pavan Sinha from Delhi University, delivered a remarkable address, emphasizing the necessity of understanding India’s indispensable cultural elements for the world. He further stressed the importance of teachers not confining themselves to the classroom but imparting the art of life management, thus underlining the need for assuming this responsibility.
Prof. Prasun Dutt Singh, Chief Academic Administrator, humorously underscored the importance of language, while a panel discussion on humor in language was organized during the concluding session.
Additionally, parallel sessions, both online and offline, along with panel discussions, were held, facilitating the participation of approximately 100 research scholars and students from various departments and regions.
