Mahatma Gandhi Central University, known for its commitment to holistic education, recently hosted a thought-provoking lecture on “Sanskrit, Culture, and Yoga.” The event, conducted by the Department of Humanities and Languages, featured Dr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay as the main speaker, with the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, presiding over the session.
Dr. Upadhyay, a distinguished scholar and former Police Director-General in Maharashtra, highlighted the profound impact of Indian culture on promoting the well-being of all communities. Quoting a Sanskrit shloka, he emphasized the inclusive nature of Indian culture, advocating for global unity and prosperity.
The lecture delved into the rich heritage of India, exploring its historical significance as a prosperous nation with a thriving education system. Dr. Upadhyay underscored the importance of values like truth, non-violence, and humanity in Indian scriptures, emphasizing their universal applicability.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, in his introductory address, praised the humility and respect instilled by Indian culture. He urged students to study ancient Indian texts like the Bhagavad Gita, which teaches mastery in actions, reinforcing the idea that “Yoga is skill in action.”
