Four technical sessions were organized by the Department of Political Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research on the seventh day of the ten-day Research Methodology course.
In the 23rd technical session, subject expert Dr. Shiva Kanojia Shukla, Deputy Librarian, Jawaharlal Nehru University, explained various research metrics to the participants in detail. Through such an index, information about the quality of research journals, articles, and authors is available.

The chairman of the session, Prof. Pranveer Singh, Head of the Department of Zoology, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, said that extracting various indices is a difficult task, but it can be simplified by continuous practice. The meaning of research is to establish oneself as a researcher.

In the twenty-fourth technical session, subject expert, former director of CSDS, New Delhi, Prof. Sanjay Kumar discussed with the participants about various problems faced in quantitative research and their solutions. Dr. Kumar said that the researcher should do the sampling very carefully and according to the nature of the research. A large sample enables separate and multidimensional analysis of the collected data.

Research is not an Exam, it is a New Discovery – Professor Pal

Addressing the session, Prof. Arttraan Pal, Dean, Student Welfare, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, said in the presidential address that research is not an exam, it is a new discovery. It is very important to adopt proper methodology for good research. The 23rd and 24th sessions were conducted by Dr. Parmatma Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Media Studies.

The theme of the 25th technical session was Report writing. The resource person of the session, Prof. Pavanesh Kumar, Head, Department of Management Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, said that for a good and quality report, it is necessary that there should be a systematic listing of tables, graphs, and facts. Reports should always be written in third person address and Roman numerals should be used. The chairman of the session Prof. Shirish Mishra said that the success of research depends on a good quality report. The research report should be in a sequence and a comprehensive information about the research should be included in the report.

In the twenty-sixth session, Dr. Priyanka Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Banaras Hindu University discussed with the participants on the inclusion of feminist methodology in qualitative research. Dr. Jha said that it is necessary to have a feminist approach in research based on any kind of qualitative study. The session was chaired by Prof. Sunil Mahawar, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi Central University. Prof. Mahavar kept his point on the seriousness of the subject.

Course director Dr. Narendra Kumar Arya said that the purpose of today’s work day was to solve the problems faced by the participating researchers in social research. Dr. Narendra Singh, Co-Director of the course, said that the aim of this course is to make the participants aware of the theoretical aspects of research as well as various practical intricacies.
Research scholars and students including Ashutosh Anand, Gaurav Panwar, Nikhil Tomar, Kumar Devashish, Richa Vandana, Manish, Ujjwal, Sandeep, Vijay Kumar, Kaushal, Sachin, Sujit, Afsana, Fatima were present on this occasion.
