Department of Zoology, Mahatma Gandhi Central University organized a program on the occasion of World Cancer Day at Chanakya Parisar. Dr. Vinay Kapoor (doctor at M.G.M.C.H Jaipur) was the Chief Guest of the programme. The programme started officialy by lamp litting and welcome speech of the Vice-Chancellor. Furthermore the welcome statement was given by the Head of the Department cum Chief Proctor, Professor Pranveer Singh. Pro. Singh gave information about different forms of cancer.
Gall bladder cancer mainly affects women in northern and western India – Dr. Kapoor
Chief Guest Dr. Vinay Kumar Kapoor, M.G.M.C.H, Jaipur, put lights on comprehensive information related to gall bladder cancer and he said that gall bladder cancer mainly affects women in northern and western India. Gall bladder cancer is the most common cancer. Delayed onset of symptoms and very poor prognosis have been cited as reasons for its rise. Gallbladder cancer initially appears similar to gallstones, making it difficult to detect in the past. Northwest Indian and Indo Americans are genetically predisposed to gall bladder cancer.

Professor Artatrana Pal, dean of the Department of Zoology, said that World Cancer Day is celebrated on February 4 from the year 2008. He said that control of gall bladder cancer can be achieved only through prevention, diagnosis, awareness and early prognosis.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anand Prakash asked to pay attention to Indian lifestyle and food habits, Ayurveda and Yoga along with prevention and prognosis of gall bladder cancer, and proper and minimal use of mobile phones.
The stage was moderated by Anupriya, the introduction of the chief guest was given by Apoorva Bharti and the vote of thanks was given by Shivani. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, information about various programs organized in the university campus was given by Zoology Researcher Sudhanshu Ranjan Jha. The coordination of this entire program was done by Dr. Kundan Kishore Rajak and Dr. Budhi Prakash Jain, Assistant Professor of the Department of Zoology.

First place in cancer awareness related poster competition Mahi Jabi and Moo Kaif (Zoology) stood at first position. Soumya Jaiswal (Zoology), Prashant Kumar (Zoology), Megha Rani (Political Science Department), Purvi Bharti (Education Department) stood at second while Ipsa Pradhan and Saloni Kumari (Zoology) stood at third position. Consolation prizes were given to Apoorva Bharti and Anupriya (Zoology).
