Several android users accross the country receiving a new flash message on their phones. The message arriving as a popup window tittled as “Emergency alert: Service.” The mssage gets delivered with a continious loud beep that also reads the entire message aloud.

Don’t worry if you receive a loud emergency alert this Friday. The notification comes from the Government of India and was sending in English, Hindi, and various regional languages throughout the country. Some individuals initially suspected a scam or a phone issue, but rest assured, there’s no need to panic. The government is simply disseminating this important emergency alert.

Starting from July 20, the government has been conducting trials of emergency alerts on numerous phone users. If you’re curious about what these emergency alerts entail, here’s the scoop: The government extended an invitation to users to participate in testing the system between 12 pm and 1 pm. The message get delivered by a loud beep sound, stated “This is a sample test message sent by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, through the Cell Broadcasting System.”

Why this emergency alert is important

It aims to enhance public safety and provide timely alerts duriing emergencies. This clearly indicates that the government body is testing this service to inform users in case of emergencies like Covid-19, Flood, Earthquakes, Storms, etc.
