Four technical sessions were organized by the Department of Political Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research on the eighth day of the ten-day Research Methodology course.

In the twenty-seventh technical session, subject expert Prof. Sunil Mahawar, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, spoke to the participants about various sampling methods of research. He explained the types and uses of sampling through the definitions propounded by various thinkers. Prof. Mahavar said that sampling should always be representative. The chairman of the session, Dr. Narendra Kumar Arya, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, said that it is very important for the researchers to choose the right sampling method during any research, otherwise the research achieves a directionless pace.

In the twenty-eighth technical session, subject expert, Lalit Narayan Mithila University’s Head of the Department of Political Science Prof. Muneshwar Yadav spoke to the participants on the utility of metaphysics in research. Prof. Yadav said that it is impossible to ensure the quality of research without knowing the full extent of political theories. It is necessary for the researchers to explain what kind of thesis is being presented by the research. In the presidential address of the session, Prof. Sunil Mahawar said that to understand the philosophy of any research, it is necessary to include metaphysics in it.

Speaking in the twenty-ninth technical session, Prof. Yadav emphasized on the epistemic basis of social research. He said that new principles are rendered through research. Such theories should always be supported by empirical facts. Through various ideas and theories of political science, he discussed with the participants how social research can be made more effective and quality at present. The chairman of the session Dr. Arya said that in order to maintain the quality of social research in the present times, it is necessary to give it a logical and reflective form.

In the 30th session, subject expert Prof. AK Verma, Director, Center for Study of Society and Politics, spoke to the participants about the technical nuances of writing research papers. Prof. Verma told the participants in detail what are the difficulties researchers face in writing a research paper and what things they should take special care of. He told about the language, sequencing, format and ethics of research papers. In the presidential address, Prof. Mahavar said that writing research papers is a matter of concern for researchers. Many researchers lack proper knowledge and in such a situation the quality of writing research papers declines. Research paper should always be written in a clear, focused and orderly manner.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Narendra Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Co-Director of this course, said that this course is helpful in taking various dimensions of research and newly developed techniques in the field of research to researchers.
