Sanskrit is not just a language but a cultured one. Renowned as the language of the gods, Sanskrit serves as the parent language for several others, including Prakrit, Pali, Apabhramsha, and Hindi. Within its realm, it holds not only Vedic literature connected to ancient deities but also encompasses a worldly literature that aptly portrays the moral, religious, mythological, and cultural aspects of society.
During the Shravani Upakarma ceremony held at the Ved Vidyalaya of the Arshavidya Shikshan Prashikshan Seva Sansthan in Maharshinagar on Thursday, Principal Sushil Kumar Pandey shed light on the significance of Sanskrit on the occasion of Sanskrit Day.
Sanskrit radiates universality, spirituality, and secularism throughout the world – Dr. Mishra
Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra, Assistnt Professor at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, who chaired the event, emphasized that Sanskrit takes the form of India’s diverse languages and vernaculars, forming the mainstream of Indian culture. Furthermore, it radiates universality, spirituality, and secularism throughout the world.
Shravani festival is the way to purify the body, mind, and senses
Acharya Vinod Pandey explained that the Shravani festival has been revered since Vedic times as a sacred occasion for purifying the body, mind, and senses. All the activities performed during this festival have the fundamental intention of seeking redemption for past actions and inspiring the pursuit of virtuous deeds in the future. Apart from being a day of Raksha Bandhan, it’s a day to honor and show devotion to the sages.

The event featured a range of rituals, including Ganesh Puja, Tarpan, Rishi Puja, Yajnopavita Pratishtha, Veda Puja, Rudrabhishek, and Raksha Bandhan. Rupesh Kumar Ojha managed the event, and the vote of thanks was presented by Rakesh Tiwari. Umesh Kumar Singh, Sudhakar Pandey, Shailendra Tiwari, Arun Tiwari, Satish Pandey, Sitaram Sah, Pradeep Kumar, Vedpathi Batuk and others were present on the occasion.
