Mahatma Gandhi Central University organized an essay competition as part of Hindi Fortnight 2023, sponsored by the Rajbhasha Prakoshth and Hindi Sahitya Sabha. In this competition, Sanjeet Kumar secured the first position, Anjali Chaudhary secured the second position, and Avinash Kumar secured the third position.

Dr. Shrivastava and Dr. Mishra played a pivotal roles in organing the competation

The competition was held under the guidance and inspiration of the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, who is also the Chief Patron of Hindi Fortnight. Dr. Anjani Kumar Shrivastava, the head of the Rajbhasha Prakoshth, and Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra, the program coordinator, played pivotal roles in organizing the competition.

Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, Head of Media Studies Department, was chief judge for the essay competition. He extended his best wishes to the participants and highlighted that the government is committed to giving Hindi its rightful place both within the country and internationally, which is a positive sign.

Hindi is rapidly growing on the global stage

Program coordinator Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra addressed the participants and emphasized that essay writing is a significant form of literature. He stated that the recognition of Hindi is rapidly growing on the global stage, with nearly half of the country’s population now speaking, writing, and understanding Hindi. He expressed Mahatma Gandhi’s early recognition of Hindi’s importance and advocated for making Hindi the national language.

The winners of the essay competition were announced as follows:

• First Place: Sanjeet Kumar (M.A. Hindi)
• Second Place: Anjali Chaudhary (B.A. Journalism and Mass Communication, 5th Semester)
• Third Place: Avinash Kumar (M.A. Hindi)

The successful execution of the program was made possible with the efforts of Abhijeet Singh, a research scholar from the Media Studies Department, co-coordinator Bina Chik Baraik, and event secretary Vikash Kumar. Dr. Paramatma Kumar Mishra was honored with a memento during the program.

The program was smoothly conducted with the help of research scholar Vikash Kumar and the vote of thanks was presented by research scholar Prateek Kumar Ojha. Students Debasree and Ayushi Das from the Media Studies Department assisted in coordinating the event.

Numerous students from various departments of the university participated in this essay competition, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting Hindi language and literature. This essay competition, held during Hindi Fortnight 2023, contributes to the global recognition and promotion of the Hindi language.
