The closing ceremony of the two-day national conference on “Digital and Technological Advancement for Sustainable Libraries,” organized by the Department of Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology Section of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, was held at the Grand Auditorium of the Buddha Parisar in Bankat, Motihari.

The ceremony was presided over by the university’s Chancellor, Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, with Prof. P.K. Bajpai, Chancellor of Jay Prakash University, Chhapra, as the chief guest.

Notable speakers included Prof. K.L. Mahavar of BHU, Varanasi, and Dr. Amit Kumar from Central University, Gujarat. The welcome address was delivered by the organizing secretary of the conference, Prof. Ranjit Kumar Choudhary.

In his presidential address, Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava emphasized the pivotal role of libraries as a vital platform for information and knowledge dissemination.

He expressed confidence that the conference, focusing on the continual development of libraries based on digital and technical foundations, would set new benchmarks.

He urged educators, researchers, and students to fully utilize library resources for expanding knowledge and ideas.

Chief guest Prof. P.K. Bajpai discussed various aspects of library construction and usage, highlighting the importance of advancing electronic resources and basic infrastructure for libraries.

Keynote speaker Prof. K.L. Mahavar addressed the need for green libraries and human resource development in accordance with present scenarios. He stressed the adoption of the concept of green libraries to meet the demands of the time.

Guest speaker Dr. Amit Kumar deliberated on the challenges facing sustainable or enduring libraries, emphasizing the need for continuous adaptation to new technological changes and better utilization of resources.

In the vote of thanks, Prof. Ranjit Kumar Choudhary, the organizing secretary, expressed gratitude to the scholars and researchers who contributed to various dimensions of the topic during the conference.

He announced plans for further discussions under the guidance of the honorable Chancellor.

A total of 46 research papers were received during the conference, of which 28 were presented by educators, researchers, and students.

A summary of the conference, based on the book “Digital and Technological Advancement for Sustainable Libraries” authored by Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, was launched.

The brief report of the conference was presented by Dr. Sapna, Assistant Professor of the department.
